SHOP THIS LOOK: Luscious Lifer, Jennifer, emailed me about the items in this stylish bedroom, so here’s how you can also recreate this look in your own home…
Deconstructing this coral, white and grey bedroom
The main colours are white, grey and coral, with touches of navy, gold, beige and cream, so you could buy any of the items in any of the colours to achieve a similar look.
Jennifer tells me she recently bought a navy tufted headboard which I think would be a great investment, and probably the most expensive component (other than the bed itself and perhaps the rug) to a stylish room like this one. The side tables and stools could be quite inexpensive items, such as flea market finds which you repaint or recover.
I have the navy-and-white cushions myself, and think I got them on etsy, but this pattern is very popular at the moment, so I’m sure that all major homewares stores such as West Elm and Pottery Barn, and department stores such as Bloomingdale’s, would stock them.
Here are the key components:
- Queen bed
- Tufted headboard, coral and possibly velvet texture
- White linen with coral ribbon trim
- Coral printed cushion
- Grey and cream wide-striped cushion
- Navy and white geometric cushion x 2
- Square side table, white (presumably x 2)
- Lamp with square base and square shade (presumably x 2)
- Footstools with coral fabric x2
- Rug, grey with gold pattern
- Wall paint, dark grey
Note: The colours and items are essentially interchangeable, but I’d avoid investing in too much coral, particularly coral patterns. Yes, the color coral (and tangerine) is beautiful but if you’re a fan of trends, you’ll know that coral and tangerine were the colors of 2012, and the coral print is a trend not an enduring style. For 2013, it’s emerald green and Monaco blue.
So invest in classic colours (white, black, navy, beige) and then bring in cheap-and-cheerful accessories such as cushions – it’s much easier to replace a cushion cover than an entire headboard, no? Especially one with a coral pattern on it.
That being said, it’s your room and you should feel free to do whatever you like to make it luscious in your own way!
