Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott are famed fashion photographers who primarily work as a team taking photos of sophisticated, strong and graceful women, emoting sensuality and confidence.
A lot of effort goes into styling, both physically and through production of digital manipulation, and the importance of narrative – think Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Tom Ford campaigns and editorials. Their work is influenced by French photographer, the late Guy Bourdin.
I love this “Sunday at the Park” editorial of Lara Stone, Edita Vilkeviciute and Guinevere van Seenus, because it is a nod back to the 1910s-30s style I am obsessed with. It has me thinking of English Country House lusciousness (Gosford Park, Atonement, Brideshead Revisited…) so we also have stylist Alex White to thank for that.
