The homes from "Sex and the City"


There's something about "Sex and the City" that keeps us coming back.

This time we're looking at the interiors and exteriors of the domains relating to our "Sex and the City" foursome, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

Plus we've found some photos of the homes belonging to some of their men: Mr Big, Aleksandr Petrovsky and Richard Wright.

Remember that most of the properties are a combination of one-or-more real buildings and studio sets, such as Carrie's original apartment (pictured right).

The apartment was supposedly an Upper East Side brownstone at 245 East 73rd Street but the actual exterior is a private home at 66 Perry St near Bleecker. The interior was created in a studio.

It truly takes you into the world of Patricia Field and all the people who put immeasurable time and effort into making the girls look so stunning on screen.
 
This book takes you behind the scenes to show you how much work and planning goes into each and every outfit and scene in a movie of this calibre.  
 
When you consider Sarah Jessica Parker changed outfits 48 times throughout the film (that’s a different outfit every 3 minutes!) you can begin to understand how amazing this book is!

The book outlines what goes into each character’s wardrobe, how the stylists create their signature look and then, how these are put into each scene.

The results are so amazing to see, photographed on mannequins and broken down on the page of a book gives you the opportunity to pour over every detail and truly admire the work of each moment of the film.

Not only does the beautiful book show us the details of costumes and scenes from the film, it takes us into the oasis we all wish to be invited - the wardrobe department! 
 
Outfits, both used and unused throughout the film are shown being put together and are included with stories about signature pieces that reappear in outfits throughout the film. 

We, personally recommend this beautiful book if you are a fan of the SATC girls or just a fashion lover because it well and truly satisfies the fashion senses.

It is a beautiful enough book to display on your coffee table at home as it is sure to generate conversation when friends come over for a coffee… or a cosmo!

With the movie sequel now released, it's time to drool over the fabulous efforts by Patricia Field and her team. Or just raise an eyebrow about the practicality of some of the outfits and their desert settings. Desert sheik, anyone?

We're lusting after a red 1969 Mercedes Benz. We'd look rather nice in it, thanks very much. Accessories would include a Hermes scarf, a bottle of Moet, a picnic basket, and Cary Grant [sigh].

The soundtrack would probably be something by Bernard Herrmann, such as this Alfred Hitchcock film compilation.
