PostHeaderIcon Tom Ford's homes in London, Paris and Santa Fe

We think Tom Ford is the epitome of “the luscious man” so we did some digging and came across some photos of his former home at 26 Gilston Road, Chelsea, plus a couple from his Paris and New Mexico properties.

The Chelsea House
The uber-chic, 3705sq ft, West London house was gutted and renovated to fashion-god-Ford specifications, which included a staircase of white alabaster, black polished glass, Makassar wood and stainless steel walls, and a floor in black marble.

Without even looking at the photos, you can imagine that Ford would have renovated the period property to his most exacting and sophisticated standards.

The original architectural details of the exterior were preserved, with the interiors all about sex, sensuality, sleekness and stainless steel. Try saying that 5 times fast!

When up for sale a few years later, the 4-reception room property was valued at £8.5m and according to the agents, Aylesford, nothing had been changed since Ford lived there. The house also comprises two bedrooms (plus 1 other room which could be used as a bedroom) and 2.5 bathrooms.

Set back from the road, the 4-storey former Ford house is appropriately positioned behind a high wall and double gates (perhaps to prevent sycophantic Ford fans from popping in for a G&T on the terrace).

See a larger version of this floor plan, plus additional photos, in our photo gallery.

Located in the popular and exclusive Boltons Conservation Area in London SW10, the house is close to both Fulham Road and Old Brompton Road to enable some luscious shopping and dining within easy walk. Read some historical information here.

The Boltons is a smart enclave of just 30 large Victorian houses set around a beautiful garden square. It has long been one of the most envied and quiet A-list addresses in London. One property, for example, received an £8m injection of fabulousness with an underground car park, indoor swimming pool and James Bond-style hydraulic "pavement" roof.

Residents of The Boltons include Lord and Lady Sainsbury, Sir Julian Ridsdale Lady Ridsdale (an Fleming's original inspiration for Miss Moneypenny), a member of the Saudi royal family (who a house for himself and one for his harem of wives) and a bevy of super rich business folk and politicians.

Other current or former residents in the area include/d Yves Saint Laurent, Liz Hurley, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, David Bowie and George Michael. Michael’s 5-bedroom house in Gilston Road was previously owned by Chris Evans, and later on the market for £7.25m.

It’s not all divine, however, as actress Liz Hurley was mugged in 1994 in the neighbouring “Little Boltons” by a gang of knife-wielding female teenagers. And in 1999, more knife-happy robbers broke into a house in The Boltons, attacked a female resident and stole £200K worth of jewellery. Another time, the IRA tried to blow up the house belonging to former Northern Ireland minister Michael Alison.

The Paris apartment
We don't know anything about the Paris apartment yet (but shall continue researching!) but do know that it was photographed for House and Garden January 1998 by Todd Eberle.

Other Ford homes
Tom Ford and longtime partner Richard Buckley have resided in multiple international locales including a Richard Neutra-designed Bel Air, Los Angeles abode (next to Meg Ryan – see this article and photos from Hooked on Houses), The Carlyle hotel in New York (apparently booking the same room for years), and a massive (and controversial) hilltop property in Santa Fe County, New Mexico (where Ford grew up).

Photos of the Santa Fe property:

See these articles from luxist.com about the Santa Fe building angst: here, here and here.

We also came across this “Original eastside adobe re-envisioned into a contemporary masterpiece by fashion designer Tom Ford” in Santa Fe, but not sure whether Ford was commissioned to “re-envision” the property, or if this is one of his own properties.

PostHeaderIcon Gwyneth Paltrow's homes in New York, the Hamptons, Santa Monica and Nashville

We love peeking into other people's homes so figured we'd start with Gwyneth Paltrow.

The photos of Paltrow and musician husband, Chris Martin's family home in the Hamptons were taken by Eric Cahan for House & Garden magazine's November 2007 edition.

According to the NY Post's Braden Keil, Paltrow and Martin bought the newly built, 7000sq-ft, five-bedroom, seven and a half-bath summer home at 35 Old Montauk Highway, Amagansett, in Long Island's East End for $5.4 million in 2006 after negotiating the price down from $6.5 million.

It features nanny's quarters, ocean views and a large pool.

Mama from The Real Estalker provides some history and amusing commentary about Paltrow's Hamptons and London pads.

She also has an article about Martin and Paltrow's previous property at 13 Harrison Street, Tribeca, New York. Renovated in the late 1990s by architect Annabelle Selldorf, the Harrison Street property has an open loft style.

They originally paid $7.95 million for three and a half floors in the small, two-unit building in 2005, and sold it for $13.65 million a couple of years later.

The unit comprised six bedrooms, four and a half baths, a skylit living room, a gourmet kitchen, an exercise studio, 1600sq feet of landscaped terraces, an irrigated rooftop garden, a separate planted terrace off the family room, an elevator, several wood-burning fireplaces, a high-tech security system and three laundry rooms.

Previously, Paltrow had a $6.75 million townhouse at 278 West Fourth Street in New York’s Greenwich Village.

They moved to a penthouse at the River Lofts building on Washington, paying just over $5 million, according to Berg Properties.

Features of the apartment - in the warehouse building at 424 Washington - include three and a half baths, a library, a gallery, a study, a fireplace, 3892sq feet of indoor space, and 587sq feet of outdoor space on two decks.

The other part of the River Lofts development is at 92 Laight Street.

Some photos below, thanks to the designers, Roman and Williams, as well as Curbed.com and TheHappyHomeBlog.

Thanks to Belinda from TheHappyHome for doing the groundwork on this. It has since been picked up by Mama at the RealEstalker too. Not surprisingly, Roman and Williams have now removed the blog post of the home of "the actress, her musician husband and their children" but it's still worth checking out their site and accompanying blogs for all the other lovely home inspiration.

Also, a couple of shots of Gwyneth in her kitchen doing publicity of her new cookbook (photos by Mario Testino) in Vogue August 2010.

The renovated-especially-for-Gwyneth Nashville apartment was a temporary 2-month home for her whilst making a film. Sounds like a lot of trouble to us - surely they have luxe home rentals, hotels or serviced apartments readily available in Nashville??

Over 10 days, producer/photo stylist Annette Joseph (from Atlanta, Georgia) transformed a two bedroom loft at "The Icon" building in the up-and-coming "Gulch" area of Nashville.

Gwyneth's own Goop has the scoop, including behind the scenes pix and information about individual items (where to find and how much).

For those who are really addicted to Paltrow, you may be interested to learn that her mother, Blythe Danner, sold the family home (where Paltrow grew up) in 2007. It was at 304 21st Street in Santa Monica, also known as 2020 Georgina Avenue.

Bruce Paltrow (who died in 2002) and Danner bought the house, which is on a double lot on a corner, in 1976. In 1999, they also bought the 3-bedroom, 2468sq-foot house next door at 316 21st Street.

Danner has moved to New York and bought a new $3.125m 17th-floor, 3-bed, 3-bath unit in the prestigious co-op building at One Fifth Avenue, overlooking Washington Square Park.

It’s nine floors above the eighth-floor, two-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath  unit in the building that Danner previously owned (it sold for $1.8 million in August 2006) and had been home to Gwyneth and then-fiance Brad Pitt.

If One Fifth Avenue sounds familiar, it might be because it is also the name of the Candace Bushnell book (of "Sex and the City" fame). Check out the book, "One Fifth Avenue" on Amazon.

Real estate agent Ari LeFauve gives a quick overview of the historic Art Deco building here.

In 2005, Danner also sold properties at 193 Mead Street and 195 Mead Street in Waccabuc, New York, in Westchester County near Lake Waccabuc, for $2.4 million and $3.6 million respectively.
