Anna's picks

I thought one of my friends was a little nutty when she told me she finds time on weekends to colour in.

Then I tried it for myself only to discover that it is quite therapeutic!

My first experience of working at Fashion Week involved taking care of 30,000 worth of Lanvin. I’ve died for them ever since!

Sometimes the most inspiring looks come from those you see just walking down the street. Be sure to check out the blog as well!

He was a genius. And extra points for one of the most divine muses of all time: Ms Edie Sedgwick

Christmas just isn’t complete until Meet Me in St Louis gets its yearly workout! It’s a yearly tradition!

Barbie and the Rockers was released the same year I was born. I grew up listening to the tape deck, and definitely keep her 80s fashion close to my heart. She is one Luscious Rocker!

I die!

This book has not moved from beside my bed in the seven years since my first trip to India. No place on earth is so culturally bold and arresting.

She has truly defined an era of fashion. I bow down to her front row throne!

About Anna Banks

Luscious to me, is wearing pearls with jeans. There is nothing practical about wearing pearls with jeans. But Luscious is not about practicality, Luscious is a touch of fabulosity that we all need in our lives.

For me it’s about putting on a tutu for cocktails with fabulous friends; spritzing myself with Thierry Mugler's Angel perfume before I go to bed; eating out for breakfast instead of dinner; spending a day at the polo and treasure hunting in vintage clothing stores.

My love for the Luscious began as a child when instead of playing in my bedroom or cubby-house I would always hide away in my mother’s wardrobe. It was there amongst the blurred vision of my mother’s frills and pleats that I first became aware of the tactile and sensual qualities of our wardrobes.

While fashion may be my muse, a lot of things inspire me: The rich and colourful culture of India; French stationery and the invitingness of a blank page; home cooking; big backyards; my darling family who believe without hesitation in all of my visions and dreams and my most fabulous of friends.

From encouraging me to listen to new music, to better appreciate the joys of Mother Nature, or reminding me that I always need a new cocktail dress – my friends are constantly inspiring me.

Most of all though, my best friend…who makes me feel Luscious –

It is important in today’s financial “readjustment” – as I like to refer to it – that Luscious does not necessarily mean Luxe. Painting your toenails can conjure just as much happiness as splurging on a Hermes scarf.

In today’s super-charged world, I think we should all try to remember what inspires and revitalizes you, to cherish the little rituals you have and to surround yourself with the things that you love and adore.

Ultimately, Luscious is a simple moment of spoiling yourself for simply being you, in a way that only you know how to.

Perhaps no one will ever know the joy I get from piling on my pearls – but believe me when I say the feeling is Luscious – and it is my hope this website reminds all of you to find the Luscious in your life.

Anna loves...

Tea
I begin every day with a peppermint tea – In fact I "middle and end" my days the same way!

Bombay Electric
Diana Vreeland once said that “Pink is the navy blue of India”.

The emerging Indian designer sensations that are quickly being noticed as far as New York combine the finest silks and artisan beading that rivals anything produced in the Western World.

Visit www.bombayelectric.in for a glimpse at the amazing couture designs that definitely don’t hold back!

Clutches

A clutch is the perfect size to fit all my companions: lipstick, phone and bank card.

They also very considerately leave my hands free to meet and greet, hold cocktails, and talk with my hands!

My favourites are my Leona Edmiston and my grandma’s vintage Glomesh.

Papaw Ointment
It is my belief that Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is the cure for everything! I never leave the house without it.

Journals

I’m very old-school when it comes to my writing. My journal far precedes my laptop as my can’t-live-without item.

My bookshelf is full of old journals filled with scribbles and tall-tales. View some journals here for inspiration.

Clémence Posey

To me, Clémence Poésy is the epitome of style. Her effortless look oozes chic!

Definitely my style crush of today!
